Filipino food tastes fresh and it’s simple.  The flavours are spicy, sweet, sour and salty.  The textures are varied and playful on your tongue and the colours look bright and are appetizingly vibrant.  And although the history of the food is a mixture of Chinese, Malay, Japanese and Spanish, Filipino cuisine is definitely characteristically native in flavour and taste.

I cook Filipino food because it is part of me and so unfamiliar to many.  With over 7000 islands in the Philippines, I can serve you something that will make you encounter both the exotic and the familiar.

I would like to cook for you, your family and friends, your colleagues and even people you haven’t yet met.  Why?  Because hospitality and catering is not just about eating really good food made with local produce, it is about receiving great service, having fun, laughing, talking together, the freshest cocktail, the boldest red, the crispest white, the craft beer made from zesty hops and music which evokes dance, movement and passion.

My career in cooking started in 2015 when I left my job as a Solicitor to travel the world.  It was at a cafe in Melbourne when I decided to leave my 14 year job and pursue this passion.  So you can rely on me being organised and business-minded and, most importantly, happy knowing that when I cook your food and help you plan an event, it is what I really love to do.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT MESTIZA

Having a number of dietary restrictions, it can be a little daunting to dine out or be catered for. Not with Lou, she was incredibly considerate and accommodated my allergies and intolerances ensuring I was able to enjoy eating as much as everyone. Fantastic food, great flavors!!

I thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Supper Club’ that Louise organised, the Filipino food from starter, main to desert was impeccable, although I could’ve done with more pork belly in my Pinakbet dish, which was a vegetable stew made up of squash, okra, and Sussex free range pork belly and was delicious and couldn’t get enough of it!

This was my first supper club and what a wonderful evening. Lovely food served with passion and love, full of flavour . It was my first taste of Filipino food and I was very impressed. A wonderful evening and lovely to meet a bunch of lovely guests too. Can’t wait for my next one.

OH MY GOD … this lady has just delighted every single one of my taste buds at her first supper club. Absolutely delicious food and plenty of it with extras put in the middle of the table to indulge in. Packed full of flavour, explained each dish and its ingredients. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere … don’t hesitate to book if you’re considering it
